DEFORMATORY Premieres ‘Behold, The Apex of Decay’ Drum Playthrough Video
The Canadian death metal duo Deformatory are now streaming a brand new drum play-through video for their song ‘Behold, The Apex of Decay’, which is taken from their upcoming album ‘Inversion of the Unseen Horizon’ being released on September 3, 2021.
Drummer Neil Grandy comments: “We wrote the songs for this album at the rehearsal space, some of which came out in a single jam session. This made for very natural, raw and sometimes unorthodox death metal tracks. We carried this over into the recording process where we didn’t use click tracks and recorded drums to a live guitar, just to maintain that chaotic energy we loved during the writing process.
‘Behold, The Apex of Decay’ was the very first song we wrote for the new album and it’s just as fun to play now as it was 5 years ago when we wrote it. The song has a little bit of everything in it, from blasts to grooves, and is a great example of us just writing what we feel sounds cool, without us worrying about whether it’s right. The drum performance video was recorded at this incredible church in Ottawa, Ontario (I’m sure they regretted it as soon as the first snare hit came crashing down!) and it really helped to capture the vibe we had in mind when this track came together.
