Here’s a highly talented band looking to make their mark out of the city of Shillong, India. Going by the name of Dymbur, they’ve been making waves with their brand of quality, tech heavy, experimental metal music for a few years now.
In that time, they’ve managed to compound an impressive list of credentials. This includes (but isn’t limited to) a recent Rolling Stone premiere, winning a couple competition based concerts, and playing alongside the likes of Veil of Maya and Psycroptic – all without even putting out their debut release yet! Well done to say the least!
Their current game plan is to release the aforementioned debut album this year. So far, it’s sounding so good! The band put out a single by the name of “Origins from Alpha” on the tail end of last month. Not only is it a lot of fun to listen to, it really shows off the bands chops as they weave through complex grooves and intricate riffs. They exhibit qualities that will easily remind listeners of the upper echelon of tech metal units in the modern landscape which is, clearly, no easy feat.
You can give a listen to “Origins from Alpha” down below. It comes strapped with quite the wicked lyric video to match the music. If you enjoy, follow along on … and prepare yourselves for what comes next!
The band have quite the interesting description behind their name. It seems appropriate to share that with you as well:
“DYMBUR” is a word of KHASI origin that translates into English as “Fig Tree”. The KHASI people are an indigenous tribe, who live in the State of Meghalaya which is in the north eastern part of India. The word DYMBUR is taken from “The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree” found in the Bible. It is about a fig tree which does not produce fruit.
‘DYMBUR’ – The fig tree symbolizing rebirth, progression and evolution, of victory after struggle, Fresh leaves from old branches forming new shapes defining one of nature’s basic laws, the ability to regenerate and grow anew after a dry spell.
