A while back I did a little write up on Berried Alive, which is Charles Caswell’s solo endeavor (ex-Reflections).
It is sick and if you’ve not checked it out yet; you should.
Now, this is a bit of a jump away from informing everyone of new and exciting tunes, but I just found out that Mr. Caswell actually recently wrote a book titled: ‘Shredding Light’ that was published and will be released on May 26th.
‘Shredding Light’ will be highlighting his journey through the ups and downs of being signed to a label, as well as how he has been working as an independent entity and the benefits and drawbacks of both.
It would seem to me that this could be a great read for any of you that are trying to gain a foothold as a musician in today’s music world.
Oh, and he also has added in some warm ups and sick little riffs as well.
Like I said, this is kind of a different post, but it is in the metal vein and I know that a lot of people that listen to metal are musicians themselves. Also, with how simple it is to get started recording in your bedroom these days, as musicians, we all have the potential to go further than we thought and maybe this book will lend new insight.
Here is (What I assume is) the equivalent of a back cover excerpt.
“In this book you will learn about my story to get to the success I enjoy today as a musician. I will compare the life of a traditionally signed musician to the freedom of an independent career, and I will share the practice habits, goal-setting techniques, and even health habits that have helped me achieve my musical accomplishments. You’ll learn budgeting tips, time management skills, and I’ll share my opinions on which pieces of gear are worth including in a musician’s rig.
Most of all, I hope to show you that, no matter which type of music career you decide is right for you, any limitations on you and your goals are artificial. Your music career can be anything you want it to be, as long as you make smart decisions and maintain dedication to your objectives.”
Pretty damn cool. You can pre-order the book on Amazon now!
