Okay, I’m more or less positive that the majority of you have heard of TV “talent shows” like American Idol, America’s Got Talent, The Voice, yada yada. On the flipside, you may know that many other countries, in some attempt to keep up with American pop culture, have their own versions of these shows. That being the case, these alternative shows can be quite different though they play out much in the same way.
Unless, of course, you happen to reside in Finland. A most interesting contestant came onto the show to belt out some Children of Bodom harsh vocals. Now, if this happened in the United States – where pop culture often drags its knuckles in a trail of drool – this would’ve been shot down almost immediately. In Finland, however, this got the judges fucking AMPED. 2 out of 4 judges selected the performer and the others were still fairly impressed. Just another reason why Finland is clearly cooler than the United States. You can watch the footage below.
It also bears saying that Tarja Turunen, former signer for Symphonic Metal moguls Nightwish, is one of the judges on this show. How cool is that?
