Best Buy has always been a force in the physical domain for music. This appears to be changing in 2018.
Billboard reports that the store will stop selling physical copies of albums come July 1st. They will, however, continue selling vinyl for another couple years. It’s been reported that the Best Buy chain has been making ~$40 million off physical sales annually which falls short of their desired numbers.
This is just another step into a new age of music distribution it would seem. We’ll keep you up to date on the situation as it develops.
In the meantime… go buy some CDs and vinyl!
